November Update: OCR Text for PDFs and Images
Images and digital files like PDFs play a big role in how we collect and process information.
Our notes are the perfect place to store these files. We are working to make saving and indexing files in Reflect as frictionless as possible. The tricky part of this is extracting the information in these files to be usable in your notes.

Image and PDF OCR Text

OCR (“Optical Character Recognition”) extracts text from images. In Reflect, this means that the text contained in images and PDFs now shows up in the search results.
For example, you can take a photo of a receipt and save it to your daily note. If you search for that charge later, it will show up.

You’ll need to have “Labs” turned on in your Reflect preferences to access this feature. Also note that it currently only works on new images and PDF files added. We’ll roll out OCR for existing images and files in the near future.

Next up

We are working on some massive improvements to our voice transcriber, as well as a move to SQLite that will significantly improve performance on mobile. Look out for an email update announcing these!
