Reflect Update: Encrypted Assets, lock screen activity and deep links
Your notes in Reflect are end-to-end encrypted. No one besides you can read them – not even the Reflect team.
When we record information in our notes, we must be absolutely certain they are safe and secure. Otherwise we self-censor our own thinking.
Today we are announcing:
  1. A major upgrade to our encryption
  1. Improvements to recording iOS audio memos
  1. Offline images
  1. Deeplink support
  1. Image zoom on iOS

🔒 Encrypted Assets

Assets you save to Reflect are now end-to-end encrypted. That means any image or file you add to a note can only be “decrypted” and viewed by you.
Previously, assets were saved behind a private link. Now they are encrypted before leaving your machine, adding an additional layer of security. This will happen going forward automatically for any file or image attached to a note.

▶️ Lock screen activity for audio notes

When you record a voice note from Reflect’s iOS app, it now shows the recording progress from your lock screen. There is also a convenient “Stop” button for when you’re finished speaking.

Deep links allow you to open specific pages or notes within Reflect, directly from external applications. Jump straight to the exact note or page you need, saving time and reducing clicks.
For example, you can now link to the following url from another application, and it’ll append text to your daily note:
reflect://reflect?command=append-to-daily-note&text=<text_to_append>
These also let you create powerful workflows with other apps through Zapier or our API. You can find detailed information on how to create and use deep links on this new Academy page.

🗂️ Offline Assets

In addition to the new encryption, assets like images and files can now be added to notes when you're offline. As soon as you go online again, they’ll be uploaded.
Images are also now cached, meaning they can be viewed when offline as well.

🔎 Image zoom on iOS

You can now zoom into images you add into Reflect’s iOS app. After adding an image, either by pasting it in or using the image button on the sliding menu, simply tap on the image to expand. You can then pinch or double tap to zoom in and out.
By the way, you can also highlight text from an image to copy, share or even translate the text you select.

We’re working on a couple large features that will be rolled out over the coming months, so keep an eye on our updates!
